Can We Please Stop Referring To The Simplified English Watchtower A The Dumbed Down Version
by Philadelphia Ponos ini really shouldn't have to say any of this but as someone who is in the process of learning a second language, i can tell that simple language makes things a lot clearer when you are not familiar with the language.
everyone on here started out reading simplified english while they were learning, including you native speakers.
i'm sure no one here was reading on a college level in elementary school.

I love the new dumbed down version. No more confusing big words.
Obey.
Obey the Governing Body.
Obey the Governing Body or a big man in the sky will kill you.
It's got to be a thankless job defending a dangerous doomsday cult.

You need a messiah
by StopTheTears inyou might well ask that question, do we need a messiah?
yes, it would be logical to wonder whether a messiah would have any real effect on you.. .
some whose opinion you may respect would assure you that the answer is clear and unequivocal: you definitely do need a messiah, just as much as everyone else does.. .

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

by roxanesophia inconsidering this looks to be mostly a ex-jw site, you're probably thinking "coming into it?
run.
" but i have friends in it who have persuaded me to have a bible study and attend meetings, and well, hey... it isn't doing me much harm.

My Study Conductor Jumped Ship - Any Possible Explanations?
by InterestedOne inmy study conductor has informed me that he & his wife are switching to a foreign language congregation that is far away from the territory they live in (it will involve a lot of driving back & forth).
because he is switching congregations, he said he will not have the energy to devote to my study and recommended another brother who could take over, and i have met him.
however, this change happened simultaneously with a decision i have made.

Interested One, perhaps this might be a great time to walk away. It was bound to happen eventually. Consider yourself lucky you don't have any family trapped in the Cult.

Does Jehovah really support the preaching work?
by Kensho inthere is no doubt jws are famous for the preaching work even if you do not agree with the doctrine.
i have always wondered why if the work is so important and backed by jehovah, jesus, and the angels why do pioneers, cos, dos and assembly hall overseers and their wives etc.
who are on the front lines get cancer and other debilitating diseases that take them out of the most important work in the so called" last days".

A good question is how many aspects of the Mormon "ceremonies" were ripped off from the masons? What a scam. I think I'll go into the woods, claim a vision and start my own cult just like old Joseph Smith.

30 out of 32, and I'm an Atheist. I've never heard of Maimonides or Jonathan Edwards who participated in the First Great Awakening. After checking the test averages on pewforum.org I don't feel too bad, those two questions were the most commonly missed. Only 8% of people surveyed knew that Maimonides was Jewish, and 11% got the Jonathan Edwards question correct.
